The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd
3.0
i gave up on finishing this book so i only made it about 70% through.
ana's character, her passion, her inclination to authenticity, her story is so alluring. i love me a feminist queen especially in a society that's extremely lagging in that department.
her love story with jesus is what kept me there at the most part because her story was being filled with hopefulness and community.
i found it hard to finish this because the first and last 20% of the book feel like hopeless strife and 24/7 pain feminism. i want to see women making change and i don't expect a flowery happy ending but it feels counterintuitive to depress her journey to an extent where no possible resolution feels adequate or appropriate.
