I very nearly DNF’d this book at the beginning, as the writing felt a bit juvenile for me, and this book does something that I HATE, which is giving every single character an unnecessary nickname.
BUT! I decided to keep going a little further, and ended up reading around 450 pages of this book in a single night. It was such a fun and enjoyable read and I am so completely on board with the Legendborn hype train. The more I learned about the magic system, the more I enjoyed it, and I especially loved the idea that different culturally communities have different ways of viewing and explaining the magic in this world. It felt like such a rich and realistic detail. The characters grew on me so quickly, especially Bree and Sel, and WOW, THAT ENDING!
I’m so excited to read Bloodmarked.
