Finding Finn by Charlie Novak

5.0

#1 Always Eli: ★★★★☆ | 4 stars
#2 Finding Finn: ★★★★★ | 5 stars

I think my kink is quiet, unassuming men with dirty, dirty mouths.

This is a super sweet (and surprisingly spicy) friends to lovers romance. Gem wants so badly to design the next big table top game, but it just isn't happening for him. After some encouragement from Jay and his best friend Finn, he decides to open a board game store. Finn is a very introverted audiobook narrator with a secret side hustle. He also happens to be pining after Gem. Preparing Gem's retail space has the best friends spending more time together than ever - and now Finn might not be the only one with some hidden feelings.

I loved so much about this story. I adored Finn and the way both his anxiety and sex work were handled. As someone with diagnosed anxiety who occasionally gets panic attacks, I really connected with Finn's character and the way he experiences the world. With regards to his sex work (audio recordings), I love that not a single person who knows about it makes him feel an ounce of shame. They just loved him and support him.

Gem's feelings about where he is in his life versus where he thought he would be were so relatable. And, I loved seeing him find a new path that he can be both excited about a proud of. Even if your life doesn't look like that you'd planned doesn't mean it can still be a good and meaningful life.

Three Thoughts:
1. Finn's dirty talk is unbelievably hot. I loved how well those two clicked, and the open and honest discussions they had about what they wanted/needed.
2. Link sounds adorable, and I really hope we get to see more of him in the future.
3. Usually I prefer my epilogues to be solely about the main couple, but in this case I'll make an exception. It was fantastic.

I absolutely can't wait until we get to see the ever elusive Oscar falling in love.
