The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna

5.0

this book left me with a smile on my face. the character building was amazing for many of the characters. following deka as she battles leaning on what she was taught and what her intuition is telling her felt nostalgic. the world the author was able to build created so much space for resonance and the magic of the entire book added extra enjoyment. i wish i had this book to read when i was 16. experiencing the characters transmute so many of their traumas and pain into something so deeply freeing and communal was empowering. of course, the representation was absolutely lovely!
