Pretty predictable, but the story is sweet. For most of the book, it feels like one of those Netflix rom-coms you put on in the background. I initially didn't like Phoebe as a character, but she grew on me.

Phoebe came off pretentious sometimes, due to her literature professor background. And tbh, I feel like her "reasoning" for her suicide attempt was both unnecessary and unbelievable. Like I get the pandemic extrapolated things, but wanting to die because your husband was having an affair is not the most believable reason. Like yes, it sucks, but maybe if there was more focus on her low confidence, low self-esteem, I would understand her better. Also, it's pretty stupid and selfish of her to just tell Lila she wants to kill herself. And I hate that the author made Lila more focused on the negative effects of her wedding, rather than show some empathy for Phoebe. Also, if I were Lila, I would've called the hotel staff or the police right away, rather than warn or threaten Phoebe. But anyway, after Phoebe decides not to die, and ends up being a part of the wedding festivities, I feel like the story picks up. Pretty much the minute she meets Gary, Lila's fiancé. It's predictable moving forward, but it's fun seeing Phoebe connect with the Wedding People.
