Every time I think the latest Dungeon Crawler Carl book can’t be better than the last, Matt Dinniman says ‘hold my fucking beer!’
This book was a whole new level, both literally and figuratively.
The emotional moments hit so hard, I cried multiple times in this one. Especially when Tserendolgor chose to go out on her own terms with what was left of her team. Goddammit that was such a gut punch.
The stakes on the eighth floor were high, and while it stressed me out that everyone got all spread out, it was clever and a chance to bring in some new crawlers we hadn’t met yet.
The humor and sheer insanity of it all were just on another level.
The memory ghost version of earth was so emotional, and seeing Carl get emotional about it was just he really heart wrenching.
And the part with his dad?! Holy shit - I also cried for his stepmom and his brother. Bea can absolutely go fuck herself for keeping his little brother from him imho.
Katia’s addiction is so devastating but also like…how could you not develop some sort of toxic coping mechanism in that environment?! It makes sense and it’s still so fucking sad.
I won’t lie, the part where they had to assassinate Astrid broke my heart.
I know why they had to do it, but Jesus Christ - her saying she was almost done, almost free, just totally gutted me. And her kids?! The club changing - that got me sad af. Astrid deserved better and I will die on that hill😔
Also, fuck Quan CH…and also it was really sad to see him accept what he’d become before he died🥲
And alright can somebody explain where Lucia Mar gets all those incredible items?? And also wtf is going on with her?!
The end had my jaw on the floor in horror and shock when Carl was forced to combine with Shi Maria😱😰
I fucking CHEERED in my car when the AI/viewers chose to remove protections from the rich elite in faction wars. FUCK YEAH! ✊🏽
And HOLY SHIT - the battalion of former crawlers going to join faction wars with Carl, Donut, and the team was 🤯🤯😭😩🥹🥲
Also, I FUCKING KNEW that garbage truck company was a front for something!! I was hoping it was the pacifist group and I’m so excited that I was right!
And what is Agatha?? Will we ever know - should I know already and I’m dense???
Also Paz killing the Vinegar Bitch was OP as hell - amazing as his final act😭
I am terrified to see what happens in book 7, not gonna lie. I want them all to make it. I want Katia to make it - AGH! Matt, you are a genius sir, please let them live 😭❤️🩹
