sdupont 's review for:
Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing
by Matthew Perry
dark
reflective
slow-paced
This is not your average light celebrity memoir as Matthew Perry mainly focuses on his struggles with addiction throughout the duration of the book. I will say the pacing and chronology were off which made following the storyline more difficult. At times the chapters were very long. The book bounces around with time points and time frames which can be quite confusing. I will say he doesn’t seem to hold back details and often shows some self awareness amongst moments of reflection. I would recommend this book but only if the reader can handle such detailed focus on addiction, drug use, and alcoholism.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Drug abuse, Drug use
Moderate: Suicidal thoughts, Abandonment
