A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham
3.0

A mostly enjoyable read, though some of the tropes are a little tired by now. The main character's reliance on prescription abuse seems irrelevant to the plot, just to make them seem edgy. Some details were a little frustrating, like when she tells the police that this new killer takes trophies just like her dad did like this is a rare occurrence. Trophy collection is very common with killers, not something distinctive about one person. The story is entertaining but kind of falls apart upon close inspection. Small details nag at you like a murderer's house remaining in pristine condition for over a decade, just sitting abandoned, when the sale of said house could be used to care for the children/their mother.
Overall, it was a fun, quick read, but some of the world building detracts from the plot.
