The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

don't always take your cue from reviews....

I have a bad habit of reading the bad reviews of a book before I decide on it. Sometimes I listen. Sometimes I don't. Many times I wish I had but this time I'm glad I didn't.

I don't want to spoil anything. Many people hated the ending of this series and actually ended up despising the main character. I think the missed the whole point.

This book is about choices. But it's also about quality versus quantity. If you had the choice between living forever but be doomed to unhappiness for all that time or just 20 years to live but be completely and incandescently happy for all 20 of those years, which would you choose?

Exactly.

Human nature is inherently selfish. It is driven by biological imperative, underneath the trappings of intelligence and rationality. As the professor says. We are what we are. We can't help it and, really, when it comes right down to it, we don't want to.
