I couldn't really tell you what was happening in this book. Characters' intentions and motivations were too often unclear, with no overarching plot to bring them together. There's a lot of talking, a lot of philosophical rumination, and actually a lot more action than in the previous volume, and yet it feels like so much less happens. I could pin down the characters arcs of only really one or two of the characters. The rest just seemed to be 'around'. This resulted in a deeply dissatisfying and somewhat perplexing conclusion. 

The only thing I'm looking forward to in the next volume is the resolution of the nicolibby/nicogideon love triangle, particularly as I genuinely think Nico could end up with both of them? Traditionally you'd expect a choice in this genre, but I feel like this series in particular wouldn't shy away from an ethically non-monogamous solution – in fact, it would feel strange and frustrating to ignore the possibility.
