The Girl Beneath the Sea by Andrew Mayne

1.0

How can a book with lots of things happening be so utterly boring at the same time?

I couldn't care one bit about the main plot. Not one bit. The story was extremely bland.

The author has this quite amazing writing style where he wouldn't describe an area at all or set the scene in any way but then the more you read the more things don't make sense because of the way you pictured them in your head and things just magically shift in and out if reality to fit what's happening now and it is just bad. What's more is that a lot of things happen in water or marine related things but the author doesn't realise that normal people wouldn't know what these things normally are and just continues the story and I am filled to fill in the blanks and imagine how things work.

It is quite a fast read despite being ultimately boring, not the least bit thrilling, horribly written and I did not care about the plot or characters at all.
