Thor: God of Thunder, Volume 1: The God Butcher by Jason Aaron

5.0

I heard that the Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic run was one of Thor's best, and boy... was that advice not wrong. This is Marvel at its most mythic, with the gentle, human, and reverential touch of Aaron's writing, with the traditional grandeur of (Croatian!) Ribic's art. The storytelling is masterful, with suspense and mystery spread across three Thor timelines, featuring a villain who espouses a very modern and frighteningly relevant belief about the sins of the world's pantheons. Truly stunning all around.
