The Bad Wedding Date by Vicki James

dark emotional tense medium-paced

5.0

Charlotte is all but estranged from her family.  Her family requires her attendance at her sister's wedding.  They live the lavish lifestyle and Charlotte is more simplistic looking for the joy in life instead of status.  When her best friend, who is supposed to be her date, doesn't show up.  Charlotte is in a bind.  Luckily a man sits beside her at the bus stop all dressed to the nines.  Through a series of coincidences, he is going to roughly the same place.  She invites him to be her date, even offers to pay.  What Charlotte doesn't know is he has orchestrated the whole thing.  Charlotte quickly falls for Fraser and is put into some dangerous situations.
Opinion
This book is one heck of a emotional roller coaster.  Fraser is such a lovable character but he is also a bit devious.  Charlotte is walking around with her head in the sand.  Vicki James is able to get the reader to side with the (anti) hero easily, even though he is in the wrong.  By the end, you will be pulling for these two to fall in love, regardless of what they did throughout the book.
Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.
