A mystical fantasy steeped in rich Chinese mythology and magical storytelling.
Song Like Silver, Flame Like Night is up there with one of the greatest fantasy stories I have ever read. I do have a supreme love of the beauty of Chinese Mythology which originally attracted me to the novel and Amelie Wen Zhao’s writing kept me reading. I don’t believe that I have the vocabulary to portray the majesty of Amelie’s writing and storytelling ability.
The story touches on some intense subjects with poise and expert story craft. These aren’t just thrown in for shock value, they are ingrained in the story at its core. Amelie Wen Zhao is an absolutely stunning writer. The beauty and magic that is infused into the story is divine. Throughout the entire novel, Amelie flows through the story with a dancer's poise but when the action hits, there is such power in the storytelling and this keeps the novel fresh and intensely exciting!
Song of Silver, Flame Like Night is a fantasy masterpiece, rich in magic and adventure. Amelie Wen Zhao cements a place forever on my bookshelf and I can’t wait for this story's continuation. This novel embodies the word ‘epic’.
