Double Booked by Lily Lindon
Did not finish book. Stopped at 18%.
I have never read a book with such an unlikeable main character, but I truly think the author didn’t intend her to come across like that.
She is so prejudiced and mean, and I’m sure character growth is part of her arc but I just hated her too much.

- Thinks an interviewee in a video about polyamory is “surprisingly normal-looking”
- Makes a “four eyes” joke (thankfully only to herself) about her 13-year-old student who commits the sin of needing glasses.
- “ ‘Bisexuality? But I thought that was a bit of a…’ I don’t want to say phase but it’s definitely the word on my lips.” There is no excuse to write a character this ignorant when her apparent best friend is queer.
- She spends most of the first 15% horrified at the possibility of being queer because it’s obviously so terrible.
- Not even going to talk about her terrible relationship… Justice for Doug.
- “Good thing I don’t have a speech impediment”
And when at nearly 20% in there has been no plot progression further than what is in the blurb, I truly could not bring myself to read 300 more pages of it.
