Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon

5.0

5 stars ⭐️ words are escaping me to write this review. I just wish you all could cling to my heart and just sense its wilting from this book. This book is everything I love about love. The thrills of the beginning, the comfort and peace of the middle, and the unexpectedness of the end that has you replaying all the other parts in your head, savoring them, letting them give you hope for next time even though this time (the end) fucking hurts.

I adore all of the characters in this book. They are so genuine and loving in their own ways. The friendships in this book are so lovely. And mature! For them to be 17-18, they are so grown-up in their thought processes and the grace and forgiveness and hope for one another.

The main characters, Evie and X are just everything my heart desires. Not too much of a slow burn but it definitely gave friends to lovers and I adored it. The touch of magical realism in the story could have been explained more because I’m still not fully understanding the “why” but I think what’s important is that Evie did. Nicola Yoon is a wonderful YA romance writer. I’ve never heard anyone recommend this book and it was on the *bargain table*!! Please do yourself a favor if you like a swoony romance that will send your heart spinning; read this book!
