WHAT?! How have I not read Tananarive Due before now?! I loved this book so much. This is the possession story I've been wanting.
The story is a bit of a slow burn but not in a, "Ugh, this is dragging," kind of way. I love how it all unfolded and the way the timelines wove together. I loved the exploration of traditions, ancestral connections, family, grief, self-discovery, and repairing harm done.
Angela is such a strong MC, but all of the characters are really well done. This will probably go down as one of those books that I wish I could read again for the first time. I can't wait to read more of Due's work.
