The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller

3.0

This was an okay read for me, although I am not sure why I kept waiting for something “huge” (as in Where the Crawdads Sing) to happen at the end.

Some chapters were very much disturbing to read through, but unlike many people here, I believe all the ugly and the bad makes Elle the person that she is (of course, along with the several good), contributes to the decisions and choices she makes, and guides her life. A person who goes through something like this is bound to carry the experience until they die, so the story makes sense to me.
