How to Blow Up a Pipeline by Andreas Malm

4.0

First finished book of the year. Title is a bit sensationalist. Written by a climate activist whose experience is mostly in Europe. The book offers a cursory history of civil disobedience and the merits and limitations of both non-violent and destructive protest as well how as neither can effectively exist on their own. Ends with a chapter criticizing climate fatalism as an illogical and privileged ideology. I found that finishing this on 1/6 was especially ruminative on the role that violence and pacifism take in politics and our lives.
