Kilo: Inside the Deadliest Cocaine Cartels - From the Jungles to the Streets by Toby Muse

adventurous dark reflective fast-paced

4.5

Very interesting, thought-provoking, entertaining, scary and fascinating book. Filled with a lot of emotion especially after watching all of Narcos. Definetly worth the read, although it is not funny having a book that has no ending / no good ending for the protagonist. They kept it real for sure.

The underground culture of cocaine, has brought celebrities into daylight, and certain names pop up at the most unexpected places. Names known both from American media, Narcos and also documentaries. I wonder if this is because the Medellin cartel had som central figures, or if these two works are built of similar stories. The Cali cartel is rarely mentioned, even though many claim it to have been even more vigorous. I do not know if it is problematic for me to enjoy content that is built of bodies. All the way from the very farmers being shot for not doing the job properly, the people executed by the cartel, the accidents during shipping and the actual overdoses. I have not yet made my mind up on how commercialising such terror is, but I guess that is how the world works.

Long review, long night, weird thoughts (probably not sensible at all considering at what time of the day I am writing this). Should I stop reading up on cocaine and post weird, non-intriguing thoughts on the internet that no one will ever read? I do not think that I will do that.

Please contact me if someone did in fact read this, it is so late at night.
