I absolutely loved the magic system in this. The world building is great, and the lore of the land is woven through the story so well. I wanted a little more to happen, it felt like a long book for not a ton of movement in the overall plot, but I’m excited to read the second book. I also loved the characters. The men are complex and deeply feeling while the women aren’t the stereotypical fantasy heroines. Elm is delightful, and I especially can’t wait to see what happens with Ione.
