This was gritty, unnerving, and infuriating. The girl is called a liar who wants attention and the boy is the victim who gets away with it? This is a tale as old as time and it pains me to no end.

All the characters were true and raw. Their emotions were deep and relatable. Peter, Kira, Maya, Ana, Amat, Bobo, Ramona, Benji, they will all be remembered.

This is not a perfect read because Backman decided to introduce and include every single citizen who lives in this town, but he did make me extremely emotional about a junior hockey team.

It might be a little concerning how I was a little disappointed that Maya didn’t pull the trigger.
