London is the Best City in America by Laura Dave

1.5

Somehow I listened to another book by this author, but it's basically the same book as the others I've read by her. Another ensemble family cast, with a young skinny white female protagonist, this time half Jewish but not in any meaningful way… it’s just a stated fact. This is basically  a book about waiting for someone to return to you and then realizing maybe they can’t, at least not in the same or right way. The author does her same annoying tick where she starts a sentence with the same words she used to end her previous sentence, or repeats phrases a lot back to back... There’s something so trite and precious about her writing, she’ll say really sentimental stuff but without any actual depth or point. Pros: I like how you don’t know who the main character will end up with when the book begins, it's not a foregone conclusions. Cons: her precious writing, the fat phobia of the characters, basically everything idk.
