I listened to this sparkling cosy fantasy while packing up bookshelves, and found it just distracting enough: it was fun, lively, and quite entertaining. Set in an alternative Regency England where magic and sorcerers are part of the Napoleonic Wars, this harks back to one of my favorite historical fiction writers, Georgette Heyer. The story begins with a well-bred girl losing part of her soul to a faerie nobleman; this explains her "on-the-spectrum" low emotional affect. As a marriageable young woman she goes to London for a season among the Ton, along with her beloved cousin.
What I liked best about the book was that the main female character is ultimately the one who does the rescuing.
