a sinister tale about a cult disguised as a school.
pacing wise, the first 100 pages seemed a little slow as it set the prose, the characters, their backgrounds, etc. I later realized the significance of this long setup as the rest of the book became an easy page-turner.
my only complaint was that the tone for some parts, especially the beginning, felt very teenish. a lot of emotions and intentions felt told instead of showed.

“I think we should doubt ourselves sometimes. That’s just humility. We should be open to other interpretations. That openness leads to a peaceful heart.”
