I feel a sort of "who is this for" sensation reading this. I think it's lovely, and I hope that it will help a child who needs simple language about loving and losing a pet, but more than anything, it feels like an elegy for its author. 

There rainbow choked me up. How lovely to remember God's promise to humanity at such a moment. I assume for many people, it'll be a reference to the concept of a rainbow bridge, but for me, it's the covenant God made with Noah. There might be 40 days and 40 nights of storms, but they will end, and peace will be waiting.
