The Silvered Serpents by Roshani Chokshi
5.0
I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*
Ok, so we have the new cover, so this applied to me FINALLY WRITING THIS REVIEW AND FANGIRLING LIKE CRAZY! Holy wow! HOLY MARSHMALLOWS what a sequel this was! With mysteries and heists and the gang back together and even more mysteries!
First I have to say how much I loved the way Roshani presented through her story an abstract depiction of western colonialism, including the system of ‘forging’ (magic) that rich families can wield, which is also steeped in philosophical and mythological references as also the idea of how someone can become a "god".
Now keep in mind that after the events of the first book everyone was scattered and Severin did that to Laila and already there is tension between everyone even from the beginning. Not to mention that their search takes them into the Russian steppes where myth is woven into nature and magic overflows.
I loved the characters even more. Severin and Laila being my top couple while at the same time my heart ached with the misunderstandings, the treachery and THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR 2021?!
This was a spectacular sequel worthy following in the steps of the first one and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
