I've had this book on my "to read" list for years but it's very hard to find. The library didn't have it, most of my area bookstores didn't have it. I forgot all about it until I saw it on the shelf at my university's bookstore so I gave it a try. Maybe my expectations were too high? It was good. I liked it . . .but it didn't blow me away. Some of the re-tellings weren't very drastically changed at all. Beauty and the Beast was one that seemed almost entirely like the original story - just updated it a bit to the time. I think the title story (Bloody Chamber) was my favorite and I enjoyed the subtle twists that made it more feminist than the original version.
