***this is allegedly REALLY similar to Manacled (which I’ve never read), other reviewers have posted the similarities list and it feels really jarring, not saying it’s plagiarism but it feels like it could be which reflects in my changed rating***

This is super short (just under 300 pages) so I was able to breeze through it. Definitely darker than I was anticipating but I liked the horror aspects of it. It’s gory, brutal, and heavy so I highly recommend checking out trigger warnings (I can also send you the list if you’re curious). 

Because it was very fast paced and the FMC, Dr. Georgia Clark, suffers from memory loss, the world building did feel a bit lacking at times. We did start to get more as the book went on and she did more research which helped. There was kind of a lot going on as well, this is an apocalyptic future (close to our time) with a deadly plague AND vampires.
