Bound by Firelight
by Dana Swift
The exciting sequel to Cast in Firelight, Bound by Firelight ups the action while also deepening the characters. While the first book focused more on the intrigue around the kingdom and the budding romance of Adraa and Jatin, this book turns more toward building and strengthening relationships with those around you. Not only do we see increased trust and depth in Adraa and Jatin’s relationship, but also the difficult but loyal love of a sister and the cautious understanding of friendship built through hardship. Dana Swift writes realistic characters that have diverse actions based upon their previous experience and this was really a book where they got to shine. I appreciate that the character development felt organic and really felt grounded in the aforementioned relationships. All in all, a great follow-up from Swift and an easy recommend for any teenager or adult with a love of fantasy and inspiring characters.
