Disclaimer: I have not finished any other Rothfuss book. Despite this, I thought the story cute but the tone weirdly infantile. Auri is clearly traumatized (the reasons of which left vague which I preferred), but I got a little skeeved by her main interaction with everything being kissing. I would have liked this more if I hadn’t read the introduction and author’s note as well. I don’t think it’s as weird a story as he thinks it is, and his insistence on seeing Auri as “broken” undermined any sort of complexity he had for her in the story. Oh well.
