A Lady's Reputation
by Amy D'Orazio
I had differing views of this one and would have given 3 1/2 stars if possible. I adore Jane Austen's work and characters and these did not feel as true to her own, even given that this was a variation on the original. Even knowing Elizabeth's pride was hurt by Darcy originally, when faced with his good character and understanding his actions and what she did not originally perceive about events that occurred I expected her to relent sooner. I did like the addition of more of Darcy's family than was in the original book. Georgiana had more of an appearance, Col Fitwilliam, Lord and Lady Matlock, Saye (my favorite), and even Lady Catherine and Anne.
My major complaint was the portrayal of Mr. Bingley and what happened to his character in this. I always liked him as a character and this book had me questioning that. However it left me feeling a little less than is usual for these books. Still overall an entertaining and likeable read.
