The Teacher by Freida McFadden

challenging dark mysterious tense

Wow. This book was a little bit hard to get into at first. The writing and POV's were painful at times, but page after page it all clicked; Addie's POV in particular. At first it irritated me how juvenile it was, but as the story progressed, it truly put you in the mind of a 16 year old girl. Before you know it, you have finished the book in one sitting.

And the last two pages.... *Chef's kiss*. This is how a well executed plot twist is done. When you read it, it makes perfect sense but still leaves you gutted.

I often think people rate mystery/thrillers too low.... Is this a world changing piece of literature? no. Was it terribly cheesy and/or cliche at times? Yes. Did I devour every last crumb? You bet I did. I first marked this at 4 stars, but thinking about how I flew through the book in one sitting and didn't call the plot twist, I bumped it up to 5 stars.
