I found both Gabe and Rachel amusing and refreshing. Of course, Gabe has some serious demons, which prevent him from realizing what a good thing he's got, but both Rachel and Edward do a good job of exorcising those demons.
I found myself feeling sorry for Rachel and the town's prejudices against her. Possibly well-founded prejudices, but really hurtful ones all the same.
Kristy and Ethan were fantastic. Poor Ethan, not realizing what's been under his nose for eight years! And poor Kristy, having to put up with him!
Edward is an awesome character, cute and sweet and understandable all at the same time.
The hardworking ethics of both him and Rachel really shine out in this book, and you can imagine the sweat they've been putting into their lives.
