I've noticed that I enjoy Agatha Christie's Poirot novels more than her Miss Marple ones. I think this is because I prefer the detective's perspective over that of a civilian like Miss Marple, even though I do appreciate her ability to read people. The book I just read had some outdated language that was interesting to come across, like using "pussy" to describe someone who acts like a cat and "bitch" to describe someone who acts like a female dog. Although these words are no longer commonly used, I didn't find them offensive as they were not intended to be derogatory. The mystery in the book was well-crafted, but there were some loose ends left unresolved. I enjoyed this book; nevertheless, I still prefer the detective's point of view to that of a civilian.
