Wow. Just.... WOW!

I finished this in the early hours of the morning after its release on audio because I couldn't and didn't want to stop listening. I am utterly blown away by Ariel and her writing talent. This is her debut novel ffs! It has taken me a couple of days to form coherent thoughts and feelings to be able to cobble together a review for this.

What a journey this book takes you on, I went into this blind all I knew was it is a romantic tragedy and DOESN'T have a HEA and I am so glad I did it that way. I would advise that you go into this as blind as possible too IF you can. You have to protect your mental health, etc, so take those content and TWs at the start of this book seriously.

I want to gush about this book, but I also don't want to spoil anything, so what I will say is this... The relationship between Elena, Christian & The Silencer is complicated. They are all motivated by different things, but the thread connecting them is love. This story is so unbelievably powerful and raw in its beauty, passion, hopefulness, emotion, depth, devastation, pain, darkness, and tragedy. The prologue sank its teeth into me and didn't let go till the bitter end. I don't think I will ever truly be able to articulate how this story made me feel throughout reading it, there is definitely a marked difference from the me before reading this book and the me after reading it and I can't thank Ariel enough for writing this and putting it out into the world.

Lee Daniels & Joe Arden were both utterly incredible! You will be hard pressed to find performances at this level in another audiobook, in my opinion. The emotion in their performances throughout the entire book were next level and left me speechless. I can't begin to imagine the headspace they had to get into for these characters and this story. Thank you both for bringing it to life the way you did. This is easily my top read of 2024 so far, and it is going to take something major to knock it off that spot.
