Iron Flame
by Rebecca Yarros
I like the way this author writes action sequences as well as banter. The friendships, mentoring from a distance and frenemies writing is also done well. The Venin are supposed to be the big bad guys, but the evil lying in wait within Basgaith scared me far more in this book.
As exciting and entertaining as this book is to read, I can’t give it more than 4 stars. It seems that there are 2 different plots, climaxes and resolutions. It’s not cohesive. While it tells a story of the dangers of trusting government, there is definitely no resolution to that thread of the plot. The biggest violation is that there is a character death that is wasted to the story. And, like the last book, this one ends on a cliffhanger, but this one is DIABOLICAL!!
