It’s obvious that Heyer is a historian first and author next, and her attention to detail is apparent in each of her pages. This is a naive, short, regency set romance which reads slow due to it’s fixation on historically accurate detail on objects - particularly clothing. I don’t think I enjoyed it, but I know I missed reading Austen.
