Such fun! As is his way, Mitchell slips a bunch of characters from his previous novels into this novella and makes a lot of winky faces at his readers throughout, but it also stands easily on its own. Slade House only appears on the last Saturday of October every nine years, and has a nasty habit of gobbling up anyone who gets too close to uncovering the truth about its hungry occupants.
