Emma Hamm does a great job with enemies-to-lovers. They are not insta-lust people who mildly dislike each other. They usually find the other person strange looking even and must get used to them since they are so different. And their love and lust grow with their admiration, which is always satisfying. This holds true for Maia and Ragnar, who are very sweet together. You'll be very happy with and for them by the end.
That said, I felt like this book required one to not think too much about the plot or the machinations pushing the events along because they frankly weren't very coherent or logical. If you just accept the premise, then you can enjoy the character arcs and growing love a lot more.

The sexual violence is only briefly described or takes place off page and is referenced primarily in relation to side characters, though there is threat of rape towards the FMC once. The FMC is not harmed by the MMC.
