On Wings of Blood
by Briar Boleyn
Okay so this book definitely is a hodge podge of other books, but it’s juuust unique enough that I could ignore it and get into the story. The story kept me interested enough that I could finish the book, which is actually saying a lot these days. However, I hated the “betrayal” at the end. In fact, a lot of this book was manufactured drama to serve the plot, which I was mostly ok with, but I can only suspend belief so far when it comes to personalities. Like how is Blake already in love with Medra? Why does he think she’s the smartest woman in the world (his words) when seemingly every chapter she does something incredibly stupid that puts someone’s life at risk? I was with her for most of the book, but i think she “not like other girls”ed too close to the sun. She became the typical whiny, childish FMC who’s refuses help that will literally save her life, and I cannot abide that. I don’t know if I’ll be reading the next book, because if she remains stupid it will annoy me.
