I liked the concept and whimsical imagery, but the plot eventually lost me. Evangeline was annoyingly naive and kept creating problems for herself. There was no chemistry between her, Jacks, and any other character. The thick chunks of explanation also irked me as well.
Overall it was a decent book, but I’m not interested enough to read the sequel.
