So a lot of the reviews I'm seeing prefer the first book to the second but I disagree. For me, Beastly Bones was a better and more exciting adventure and supernatural creature. I found myself irritated while reading the first book because we knew nothing about why Jackaby is the only person who knows anything about the supernatural. Well, this is still the case for the most part but now at least more people now know that he knows this and we get a tiny peek at his history and a friend or two from his past. It appears maybe even more is coming in book 3. Fingers crossed!
