Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl by Belle de Jour, Brooke Magnanti
3.0

This book was originally adapted from the blog of the same name. It chronicles a year in the life of a young woman working as a call girl in London. Belle, the narrator, is a likable character, although it is very hard to believe her stories at times.

Belle is seemingly never depressed by her profession. She takes everything in stried and truly seems to enjoy her work. I found this very hard to believe, although that may just be due to my own attitudes towards sex and what society as a whole thinks of prostitution. It was refreshing to be able to gain insight into the profession through a positive light, without being bombarded by images of drug abuse and homelessness.
