I had to read this after finishing Bound to the Battle God. I was really interested in seeing what Halla's love story would be like. I was not disappointed! Mathior is the sweetest, most devoted love interest.
I don't normally like age gap romances, but I liked that Halla was the older one in this. It was written well, I think, to have her win his heart by protecting him.
I wasn't sure about the unusual marriage ceremony that lasted three days, but it actually worked out well. I liked that it was about giving them a chance to get to know each other and the chance to back out at any time.
