I'm not a big fan of retellings and I'm really not a fan of retellings that add graphic sexual content to a children's classic. It just doesn't work for me. A sexualized (and rape-y) Peter Pan was probably the worst part of this book. For some readers, it might feel dark. For me, it felt cringey and fanfic-y.

I thought this book was kinda weird. I would say it's more geared towards thriller readers who don't mind some fantastical Peter Pan elements in it. But those elements are so silly that I could never really take this book seriously. I didn't really like Holly as a main character. She's definitely on the grey morality spectrum, which I didn't mind, but it seemed like everyone else around her does the actual work of trying to find her missing child and that bugged me.

Overall this was a miss for me and a really strange pick for Book of the Month.
