Shark Heart: A Love Story by Emily Habeck

4.0

3.5

Part One was a five-star read. The writing, the story, the characters all drew me in. My heart broke for Lewis and Wren as they navigated Lewis’s change together. (Although the reference to Lewis’s nose “bone” becoming cartilage really distracted me. Human noses are cartilage!)

Part Two provided helpful context about Wren’s and Angela’s contexts. It didn’t have quite the same draw as Part One: it felt a bit too long and a bit too filler-y at times.
SpoilerAs a guardian of a Golden Retriever, I could’ve lived without the detailed description of Angela eating one. That was really rough for me: did the breed really need to be detailed?
