Love & Other Disasters
by Anita Kelly
I instantly disliked Dahlia. Her energy in the first few chapters was so unattractive. London was the saving grace. They seemed surprisingly normal for a romantic book character, which I enjoyed. I wish the baking competition had been more prevalent. This book tackled much bigger and more critical issues, so I understand why the competition got pushed to the side. It's just a shame, because the competition felt like background noise and it could have been a more central focus. Dahlia and London rarely connect on set, and most of their relationship develops on weekends. That's realistic, but I wanted more food content. Oh well. At least I got plenty of they/ them pronoun practice.
