The Leavers by Lisa Ko

It was really interesting to read a novel about someone who was adopted at an age where they were old enough to remember nearly everything about their previous life. I loved the complexity of Deming’s feelings towards both his birth mother and his adoptive parents, though their obliviousness/ unwillingness to engage with his past did become frustrating. Would recommend, and this is an especially good read if you’ve spent time in China or studied the language before.
