I usually read series in order interconnected or not but I received this ARC so I was like why not. So my review will reflect me not knowing these characters that much because as it's book 4. There's an obvious character and plot set up that I missed. But I was able to understand the plot regardless.
So let's start with the pace. I liked it. It did not drag much.
Onto the plot itself, great plot. I'll definitely go back and read book 1 so I have a fuller understanding of the world building.
Now the characters, that was the only part I had issues with. I did not feel their chemistry/tension. They're hot, because they unalive together and "a couple that unalives together, stays together". I don't make the rules 🤷🏾♀️ Aside from that, I just did not feel the characters the way I usually do. We get a beautiful love story yes, but something was missing for me.
As for the tropes, this is a dark romance. There are talks of the mafia but we don't get hardcore mafia dealings. It's also a stalker romance🖤
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️:
It gets kinky. It's very smutty/spicy (I really have to do a post where I tell y'all what I consider spicy/smutty/steamy). Loved it!
Overall, maybe with a more concrete background of all the characters I'd feel more connected and then it might have been all 5 stars for me. Regardless, it's a great read! I wanna read Shattered Secrets soon! I fully recommend!
